Storage

Storage

Everything should have it's own place, and everthing should be in that place, immediately upon entering the house. Otherwise, if you put something somewhere "for now", it will end up there forever, and you might not be able to find it later. If everything is always in it's own place, then you can find things easier and not have to bother your mind with remembering where you put it last.

Before you buy something, figure out where you're going to put it. Make sure you have a clearly defined place in mind, and be sure to put it there when you get it home.

You can have a box for those items that you're not sure what they are. This would be for single socks, gloves, nuts, bolts, etc. that you find lying about. From time to time - maybe monthly - sort through this box and pair up those that can be, and dispose of those that appear useless - don't keep single socks for more than a month, if they don't show up in that time, they probably won't ever.

Keep items together that belong together, like hats, gloves and scarves, or golf clubs, shoes, hats, etc. Put these together where you'll use them. The golf stuff in the garage near the trunk of the car for example.
