Two Explosions Hit Central Baghdad Hotel
BAGHDAD (Reuters) - Two explosions on Friday morning rocked the Sheraton Hotel, used by many Western journalists and contractors, in central Baghdad. The neighboring Palestine Hotel also appeared to have been hit around the 16th or 17th floor. At least two holes were punched in windows at the Sheraton. A security guard at a nearby building said he had seen a rocket or rocket-propelled grenade fly through the air toward the hotel. The Sheraton, which still uses the name of the luxury hotel chain although it is no longer part of it, is located in a fortified compound along with the Palestine, which is also used by Western journalists and contractors. My Sardonic Thoughts
- What are these journalist thinking? Let's stay at the Sheraton - they've got the best rocket propelled grenades?
- How much brains does it take to stay away from a hotel called 'The Palestine' in the middle of Baghdad?
